Our History: Over 10 years 

One of our founders was medically discharged from the his career because of a variety of illnesses. The family doctor was sympathetic but offered no hope of ever recovering any of his lost health. The prognosis was not good and a 38 year old man and father was told to accept the fact that by the age of 60 his life would be blighted by a number of health issues including cancer, digestive issues and serious arthritis.

Through diligent investigation of integrative medicine he made some startling discoveries:

Inspiration

In the film 'Pay it Forward' staring Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment play out the story of a young school boy who sets out to improve the world by helping people .

PAY IT FORWARD is a feel-good family story about a social studies teacher, Eugene Simonet (Kevin Spacey), who challenges his 11-year-old students to come up with an idea that will change the world. Trevor McKinney (Haley Joel Osment) decides to step up to the plate. His idea is a game called "pay it forward." In the game, every time somebody does a favor for you, you "pay it forward" to three other people. Surprisingly, the idea seems to work, helping his teacher to come out of his shell and reveal a dark past, and bringing his mother, Arlene McKinney (Helen Hunt)--who works two jobs to keep their household afloat--new freedom.

'Healthy Mentors' is born out of this same 'Pay it Forward' spirit. Some may see it as idealistic and un-commercial but the feedback we get from people is that not only does it work but it gives people the vehicle to help others out of their own experience by 'paying forward' the favor they themselves have received.
